Schmitt/Berlan Drum Method – Binary Module 13: 8th and 16th Note Snare Drum and Hi-Hat Syncopation with Ghost Notes

The snare drum syncopated strokes will be a bit the same as in the bass drum ones: we will have fun playing snare drums notes in uncomfortable moments so that it becomes comfortable.
The overall idea of this lesson is to bring us to play our grooves with “ghost notes”.
As the name suggests, these are notes we can hear but that we do not play loudly, we play them really pianissimo: hence the name ghost as if they were not there.
It makes a big difference when we play a pattern with “ghost notes”.

In those exercises, we will keep the same velocity on the ghost notes, we will stay relaxed: our fingers will do the job.
