Schmitt/Berlan Drum Method – Binary Module 2 – Lesson 2: Fast Fills Around The Kit
We will continue to play fills, but we will immediately get used to taking the right reflexes to move our hands to the different parts of the drums. The goal of this exercise is to gain speed.
Remember that it is important to work slowly.
When you feel comfortable with one beat, you can move on to the next.
If you are not yet comfortable with a tempo, do not increase it. Your muscle memory needs time to register movement, and your body needs to find its balance to be solid on the beat.
Stepping up tempo steps before you feel comfortable there will only weaken your groove at a higher tempo.
